AUSTIN, Texas -- For audio/video integration dealers, the houses of worship market potential is substantial and growing rapidly, according to a joint study by Austin, Texas-based TFCinfo and Church Production Magazine.
The study, For Dealers-House of Worship Audio/Sound Systems Study 2005, covers a survey of over 1,000 churches and houses of worship in the U.S. It found that 42.6 percent of churches currently purchase their audio equipment from A/V dealers, and that 56.4 percent of the churches surveyed purchase audio equipment a few times per year. It reports that $4.6 billion is spent on audio equipment for the church market, and it forecasts 32 percent over the next year.

TECHSMITH RELEASES CAMTASIA 2.1
TechSmith Corp.'s new Camtasia Studio 2.1 has a feature for recording, editing and sharing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations in a number of multimedia formats, including streaming video and Macromedia Flash. The company claims Camtasia Studio records everything in a presentation with one click, including animations, transitions and sound effects. You can also record live presentations, including voice narration, on-the-fly annotations, slide timings and cursor highlights. All visual content and audio is synchronized and indexed with the appropriate slide. For output, the file can be saved as streaming video, a Flash file, or other Web- or CD-ROM-compatible formats. The program, available now for $299, works on Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems.

POLYCOM INTRODUCES THREE CONFERENCING PRODUCTS
Polycom this week announced the upcoming release of three new products, including the Polycom PVX, a desktop-videoconferencing software application that uses the H.264 signal protocol and offers 30 frames-per-second (fps) performance. It works from a computer's desktop with a Web-cam. The second new product is WebOffice 7.0, software that
integrates with Microsoft Windows Messenger for multipoint
videoconferencing and Webconferencing from the desktop. In addition, the company announced the ReadiManager LX100, an appliance computer that delivers simplified audioconference and videoconference scheduling and device management over a network.
